YWCA accepting proposals for building

By:  John Desriveries

The board of directors for the YWCA of Wausau is accepting proposals from the public to take over the building.

It was announced Wednesday that the board submitted a Request for Proposal to the city of Wausau to seek bids from the public to purchase the building, located at the corner of Fifth and Grant streets in downtown Wausau.

Built in the 1920's, the building has been used as a haven for travelling women, a child care center, and a business incubator.

Proposals are due to the YWCA by July 21 and should include a proposed purchase price, a plan for use and any request for city participation.
